After creating a token and adding it to the flash drive containing the WIPERAPP ISO, a valid license is also necessary to execute the data wiping process. The License Management section in WIPERAPP Admin Panel allows you to efficiently manage licenses required for wiping processes, maintain compliance, and allocate resources effectively.
The License Management interface provides detailed insights into your license usage, including the total purchased, available, and used licenses. The table below summarizes the fields displayed, along with examples for better understanding:
Field | Description | Example |
Total Licenses | Total number of licenses purchased | 1,000 licenses purchased. |
Available Licenses | Licenses not yet used and ready for allocation. | 945 available licenses in use out of 1,000 purchased (55 licenses used). |
Used Licenses | Licenses already consumed for completed wiping operations. | 55 licenses used. |
DEMO Licenses | Licenses allocated for testing or demonstration purposes. | 1 available DEMO license out of 10 (9 licenses used). |
Inactive Licenses | Licenses that are expired or no longer valid. | Inactive Unlimited DEMO licenses (validity period expired). |
Selecting a license in WIPERAPP is a critical step that authorizes the data-wiping process and ensures compliance with industry standards. Each license tracks the wiping operation, helping generate reports for audits, compliance, and accountability. Without selecting a valid license, the wiping process cannot begin, ensuring that all actions are properly authorized and recorded.
Step 1: Press the Select license button to allocate the license for the upcoming data-wiping operation.
Step 2: Once selected, the status of the license will change to In use.
The license is now linked to the data erasure process and appears on the Client Interface.
Understanding how licenses are consumed and managed is crucial for ensuring smooth and efficient operations within WIPERAPP.
Initiating a data wipe automatically consumes one license on the server. Upon successful completion and verification, the license is marked as used.
Scenario | What Happens to the License |
Unplanned Interruptions | The license is blocked for the specific disk's serial number. Subsequent attempts to erase the same disk will not consume additional licenses. |
Manual Interruptions or Errors | The license is returned to the server after 14 days if the erasure process was interrupted or an error occurred. Once returned, the license becomes available again for use on another disk. |
